CSU Precalculus Tutorial

The Colorado State University Precalculus Tutorial is a set of tools that will allow you to pass out of any of CSU's Precalculus courses (Math 117, Math 118, Math 124, Math 125, Math 126). The Precalculus Tutorial is only available to incoming students in the summer before the Fall Semester begins.

Being successful on the Precalculus Tutorial allows a student to pass out of, but not earn credit for, CSU's Precalculus courses; Math 117, Math 118, Math 124, Math 125, and Math 126. This exam is designed for students who have traditionally been strong in math, or want to take the time over the summer to learn the material necessary to pass the Precalculus Tutorial. It is a useful method for students who's major recommend taking Calculus (Math 141, Math 155, or Math 160) in their Fall semester, but their results on the Math Placement Exam did not get them to that goal.

To take the Precalculus Tutorial:

  1. Take the Math Placement Exam at least once.
  2. Log in to the Precalculus Tutorial using your eID.
When you log in the CSU Bookstore will automatically activate an access code for the Precalculus Tutorial study materials, and charge your student account $20.

The Precalculus Tutorial provides you full access to the same materials a student receives by taking that specific Precalculus course during the normal semester. For each Precalculus course (Math 117, Math 118, Math 124, Math 125, Math 126) you will be required to pass 4 review exams to become eligible to take the actual exam for that single course. You will have to go through the courses in the order the prerequisites require. The traditional order of the course goes in the order of their numbering; Math 117 to Math 118 to Math 124 to Math 125 to Math 126. If you passed out of any precalculus courses during the Math Placement Exam, you will be given "credit" for having passed that course, and will not need to pass out of the course again during the Precalculus Tutorial.

The actual Precalculus Tutorial exams are 20 questions, and you need to score a 14 out of 20 to pass out of that single precalculus course.

CSU's Precalculus Tutorial Review Materials
CSU offers access to review materials on their website. You will need a NetID to access the materials, and your student account will be charged $20 for the access.

MY Precalculus Tutorial Review Materials
The questions and material covered by the Precalculus Tutorial are the same questions that you would see when you take the actual course during the normal semester. The great news is I have created a video tutorial for every question that is offered through CSU's precalculus courses.

Private Tutoring
I offer private tutoring to help you prepare for the Precalculus Tutorial. Generally it takes 3-4 hours of tutoring to prepare for a single precalculus course.
